The bedside lamp is the centre of a nocturnal world. The guiding light between states of sleeping and waking. As dreams turn to daydreams and time and space are lost in imaginings and revierie, the bedside scene remains constant, and acts as a stage for visual projections. Drawing chiefly on the writings of Proust and Bachelard, my work takes this stage set and exploits its potential to reflect the poetic distortions we experience in a half-awake state.
